Former Alamo police officer charged with theft


    Former Alamo police officer Jesus Ramirez, 47, was charged with theft by a public servant, a state jail felony, Friday morning.

    A former police officer has been charged with theft after police say he stole an AR-15 from the Alamo Police Department in 2014 while he was still an officer.

    Bond was set at $20,000.

    Authorities say charges could be upgraded pending further investigation.

    Ramirez was arrested at his home in San Juan on Thursday, as CBS 4 news previously reported.

    The Texas Rangers and Alamo Police Department are still working to recover the weapon.
