Former Secretary of State of Texas Carlos Cascos announced Tuesday he will run for Cameron County judge in the November 2018 general election.

Cascos said in a statement on his Facebook page, “I look forward to running a positive campaign, once again focusing on the issues & challenges our county faces, by representing all of the residents of Cameron County.”

Cascos says he filed paperwork for the position in late November with the Republican Party. Cascos will face incumbent Judge Eddie Treviño Jr., who will run as a democrat.
