Hidalgo County voters made their voice heard during the Texas Democratic runoff election for the position of Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4, Place 2.

Homer Jasso Sr. won re-election with 50.75% of the vote, or 2,985 votes over Armando M. Guerra with 49.25% of the vote, or 2,897 votes, according to unofficial final results from the Hidalgo County Elections Department.

In March, Jasso Sr., was reprimanded by the State of Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct. The reprimand came after two complaints were filed against Jasso Sr. One complaint was from an employee who said Jasso was sexually harassing her and the other complaint involving an amended judgment in a case back in 2016.

As a result, Jasso Sr. was told that he had to complete a total of 160 hours of curriculum provided by the Texas Justice Court Training Center for new judges on or before Dec. 31, 2018.
