Hidalgo County judge Ramon Garcia issued a proclamation Wednesday declaring a local state of disaster as a result of recent storms.

According to the county, the declaration will be in effect for seven days, unless extended by Commissioners Court.

The declaration reads in part," “the Judge of the County of Hidalgo has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to protect the public health, safety and general wellbeing of County citizens, alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property.”
