Lawsuit: Brownsville I.S.D. failed to take appropriate action
A lawsuit is accusing Brownsville I.S.D. of failing to take appropriate action after a teacher caught a fellow teacher having sex with a student in a classroom.
The lawsuit says this happened January of 2017 at Brownsville Hanna High School.
The lawsuit stated that the district never notified the Department of Family Protective Services, which is required by law.
It also claims the district never checked up on the student or his family and he became depressed and eventually dropped out of school.
The district did fire the teacher and her teaching license was revoked earlier this year.
The family says the district violated the student's rights.
We reached out to the district for comment. They said, “It is the policy of the Brownsville Independent School District not to comment on pending litigation.”
