CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (KGBT) - A man already behind bars for sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography was sentenced to an additional 60 years Thursday after pleading guilty to five counts of crimes against children, according to a new release from the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office.
Miguel Angel Rodriguez, 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child, two counts of indecency with a child by contact and one count of indecency with a child by exposure.
An initial outcry of abuse was made in 2015, but went unreported after Rodriguez and another suspect denied the allegations.
However, in 2017, another victim came forward and filed a police report regarding sexual and physical abuse by Rodriguez. During an investigation, authorities found Rodriguez had child pornography in his possession.
Rodriguez was sentenced to 40 years in prison with the possibility of parole. With the new sentence, Rodriguez is “no longer eligible for parole and will not be able to leave prison until he is well into his 90s,” according to the news release.
Child Abuse Supervisor Brandy Bailey was the lead prosecutor in the case.
