The mother of Alamo Executive Secretary Crystal Garza, who's accused of leaking confidential information to drug dealers in the area, has been charged in the ongoing investigation.

Janine Lynn Garza, 54, was charged Thursday with fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $40,000.

During Garza's arraignment, Alamo court Judge Celia Garcia said Garza knew about her daughter leaking sensitive information to local drug dealers, including the addresses, procedures and identities of undercover Alamo police officers.

Both Crystal Garza and her common-law husband, 33-year-old Eddie Ramirez, have been charged in the case.

The two have since been released from Hidalgo County jail and couldn't be reached for comment.
