Mother speaks out after son stabbed 13 times in Harlingen
A local mother is speaking out after a violent altercation over the weekend left her son in critical condition.
On Sunday at about 12:41 a.m., Harlingen police say they arrived at the scene of 1406 East Harrison, where Rigoberto Castillo was found bleeding heavily from his back in the parking lot.
Police say Castillo suffered 13 stab wounds.
“Four to his stomach, two to the side, five to his back, one to his shoulder and one to his arm," said Castillo’s mother Iris Camacho.
After an investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Mark Anthony Rodriguez, 27, of Harlingen for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to a criminal complaint, there was a driving altercation before Castillo and Rodriguez pulled over into the parking lot and became physical. Documents state Rodriguez stabbed Castillo during the altercation, then left the scene.
Police located and arrested Rodriguez in Rio Hondo on Sunday.
His bond was set at $50,000.
