Nightclubs burned, chaos in the streets of Nuevo Laredo

Nuevo Laredo residents woke up to chaos following a nightclub fire, a car bombing and a chase that led through a college campus.

Residents turned to the #LaredoFollow hashtag on the social media network Twitter to report the violence.

An early morning fire took down Club Maranhao early Thursday morning but it's not the first incident.

Nuevo Laredo residents told Action 4 News that other nightclubs and bars have been burned over the past few nights.

The Thursday morning violence continued with a car bomb reportedly exploded on the city's southside outside the Hotel Santa Cecilia where a group of state police were staying.

Sources told Action 4 News that seven state police officers were injured but the information is not being confirmed by officials at this time.

Shortly after the incident, authorities chased a group of men through the Instituto Tecnologico de Nuevo Laredo campus alarming students and staff.

Sources told Action 4 News that some of the suspects were reportedly caught while other remain at large.
