Over $2.7 million in methamphetamine seized at Hidalgo International Bridge
A large amount of methamphetamine was seized at the Hidalgo International Bridge on Sunday.
According to a report, a white 2006 Ford Lobo pickup truck was referred for a secondary inspection.
Officials said after a physical inspection, along with the help of a K-9 team, CBP officers found 24 packages of methamphetamine weighing over 136 pounds in the four tire areas of the vehicle, according to a federal criminal complaint. The street value of the drugs was over $2.7 million.
The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Sergio Francisco Fernandez-Cruz from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, was turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
