A Palmview teen wanted for theft has been arrested after asking for his own reward money— on the Palmview Crime Stoppers Facebook page.

After Palmview Crime Stoppers posted a wanted poster of 19-year-old Brandon Diaz on its Facebook page, Diaz himself commented on the post, asking if he could get his own reward money.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office even chimed in, saying “We will see you very soon.”

Nearly a week after the post, Diaz was arrested on one count of theft, a state jail felony.

Palmview Crime Stoppers gave an update to their followers with a picture of Diaz in the back of a police unit.

According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Diaz is accused of stealing about $3,000 worth of jewelry from a family member.

Diaz was booked into the Hidalgo County jail Tuesday on a $40,000 bond.
