Police: 22-year-old driver hospitalized following single-vehicle crash in Harlingen
A 22-year-old driver has been hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash in Harlingen early Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Harlingen Police Department.
Police say the driver, who was not identified, was traveling northbound on South Expressway 83 when he failed to control his speed and struck the off-ramp barrier on the "M" Street exit.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle before coming to a final stop on the frontage road.
Police say they found the driver at about 1:48 a.m. kneeling on the roadway with severe lacerations on his head. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the Harlingen Police Highway Enforcement Unit.
