Original story: Three teens remain in custody after police say a starter pistol and a BB gun were recovered from a backpack at La Villa High School, according to La Villa police Chief Bauldelio Castillo.
La Villa police received a call at about 1:21 p.m. from the school district about a possible student with a handgun, Castillo said. Police say they recovered a starter pistol and a BB gun from a backpack.
La Villa High School remained on lock-down while La Villa police performed a sweep of the school with assistance from the San Juan LEERT team. The lock-down was lifted at 2:46 p.m. All staff and students are safe, Castillo said.
Three students, who have not been identified, reportedly had knowledge about the started pistol and the BB gun — two 18-year-old students and a 17-year-old student. The three students will be charged Tuesday evening, Castillo said.
A high school security guard alerted administrators after a Facebook post about possible weapons on campus was reportedly posted by one of the three teens in custody.
The case remains under investigation.
