Two East Texas sisters whose lemonade stand was shut down due to lack of a city permit will instead give away the tart beverage.

KLTV-TV reports 8-year-old Andria and 7-year-old Zoey Green on Saturday plan to offer lemonade for free. Donations will be accepted.

An Overton police officer on Monday, in a patrol car videotaped incident, approached the stand offering "ice cold lemonade" for 50 cents and "kettle korn" for $1.

The officer is heard asking the girls for a permit. Their mother, Sandi Evans, says she wasn't aware a permit was needed.

A family friend went to Overton City Hall to get a permit. Authorities waived the $150 fee but said health department officials must inspect the lemonade stand.

Chief Clyde Carter says police must follow state health guidelines.
