Police: Harlingen man arrested after firing shotgun into the air on Fourth of July
Police arrested a Harlingen man after they say he fired a shotgun into the air on the Fourth of July.
At about 9 p.m. Wednesday, a Harlingen police officer responded to the 700 block of South "J" Street regarding a fireworks call.
The police officer says upon arrival, he saw 46-year-old Arturo Cruz fire a H&R single-shot 12 gauge shotgun into the air, according to a news release from the Harlingen Police Department.
The officer arrested Cruz for violating city ordinance and seized the weapon as evidence.
During booking, police found Cruz was in possession of less than two ounces of marijuana, according to the news release.
Cruz has been charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and discharge firearm, a Class C misdemeanor.
