Editor’s note: This story has been updated throughout.
A person of interest is in custody as authorities continue to investigate a possible homicide in Palmview.
Police say sometime after midnight, a man dropped off a naked woman in front of the Mission Regional Hospital and left.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say it’s unclear when, exactly, she died.
Throughout the course of an investigation, police tracked down the Palmview man and arrested him in Pharr on an unrelated arrest warrant, according to Palmview police officer Eduardo De La Rosa. Police say an “unknown amount of drugs” were found at the arrest location.
The man was then turned over to Mission police for questioning. Mission police found that the man had a room under his name at the Palmview Inn Motel located on the 200 block of Palmview Drive.
Police say the man is a person of interest in the investigation into the woman's death, as he is believed to have been in a relationship with the deceased female and was the last individual seen with her, Barrera said.
Palmview police have secured the hotel to find further details in the case that is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Surveillance footage is also being reviewed.
The Palmview Police Department, Mission Police Department, Pharr Police Department and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office are making joint efforts to work on the investigation.
Correction: The woman was found in front of the hospital sometime after midnight on Saturday.
