Police: Aggravated robbery suspect in custody, Santa Rosa ISD lockdown lifted

    Update: The suspect has been arrested and the school lockdown has been lifted, authorities say.


    Original story: The Santa Rosa Independent School District has been placed on lockdown as multiple agencies search the area for an armed robbery suspect, according to Santa Rosa police Chief Ronnie Hernandez and La Feria police Chief Cesar Diaz.

    Police say the man—who has not been identified— is wanted for an armed robbery that occurred Monday night.

    Cameron County Sheriff's Office investigators were serving an arrest warrant Tuesday afternoon when the suspect reportedly fled to a nearby cornfield.

    The Santa Rosa Police Department, Cameron County Constables, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Cameron County Sheriff's Office remain at the scene.
