Primera mom accused of child endangerment
A Primera mom has been charged after police say they found her 3-year-old son alone at a playground on Wednesday.
Marrisa Leigh-Ann Moreno, 24, of Primera has been charged with child endangerment. Bond was set at $10,000.
Primera police Chief Manuel Treviño says they found Moreno’s toddler alone at the playground of their apartment complex for more than 30 minutes.
As officers were preparing to leave with him, Moreno reportedly came outside and told police she was in the bathroom, saying she hadn’t noticed the child got out.
“The child had walked approximately 258 feet from the apartment to the playground and he actually had taken 18 steps from the second floor to the ground level to reach his point,” Treviño said.
Moreno is being held at the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center.
The Primera Police Department and Child Protective Services are investigating the case.
