A Rio Hondo High School student is out on bond after getting arrested for marijuana and fleeing from police while in handcuffs.
Rio Hondo ISD police arrested Dustin Reyes on marijuana and escape charges on Wednesday afternoon.
Court records show that school administrators discovered that Reyes had a used marijuana cigarette and a lighter while at school.
Police were booking him on a marijuana charge when Reyes allegedly bolted out of their office and fled down FM 345.
Reyes was allegedly handcuffed behind his back but managed to move them to the front.
Records show that the teen was jumping over a concrete barrier at the abandoned Economy Food Store when he tripped and fell.
Reyes appeared before Cameron County Magistrate Court Judge Alfredo Cordova where he was issued $6,500 in bonds.
