San Benito man to serve more than 19 years in prison for producing child pornography

A San Benito man will serve more than 19 years in federal prison for producing child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Southern District of Texas.

Jonathan Rios, 27, of San Benito was sentenced to 235 months in federal prison on Wednesday.

According to the news release:

At the time of his plea, the court heard that Rios persuaded or coerced a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct. Specifically, he had sexual intercourse with a minor child under the age of six and filmed it with his cell phone.

Rios will further serve 20 years on supervised release, during which he will have restricted access to children and the internet.

The case was brought as part of the nationwide initiative Project Safe Childhood, according to the news release.
