Sheriff's Office: Mexican man caught with 50 pounds of cocaine in Harlingen
A Mexican man is in custody after the Cameron County Sheriff's Office says he was in possession of up to 50 pounds of cocaine.
Juan Antonio Montes Cornejo of Tamaulipas, Mexico, was caught with 23 kilos— or about 50 pounds— of cocaine near Bass Boulevard and Expressway 83 in Harlingen Thursday afternoon, Sheriff Omar Lucio said in a press conference on Friday.
Deputies found the drugs inside an ice chest in Cornejo's vehicle.
If convicted, Cornejo faces up to 99 years in prison.
