UPDATE: Work continues on Starship prototype at SpaceX facility

We would like to make a correction on a story that we posted earlier in the day.

It was reported that SpaceX was moving their Mars spaceship and booster development to their Boca Chica Beach facility near Brownsville, according to a report by the LA Times.

SpaceX has informed us that is incorrect and the only work going on at the facility is the construction of the Starship prototype, not the development.

That information has already been reported by CBS 4 and the completed test aircraft was seen by our CBS 4 Gulf Coast Eye, Eye in the Sky on Friday.

Our apologies for the confusion.

Big news, space fans. SpaceX is moving their Mars spaceship and booster work to their Boca Chica Beach facility near Brownsville.

SpaceX said in a statement to CBS 4, that the decision was made to “streamline operations.”

SpaceX also said in the statement:

"This decision does not impact our current manufacture, design, and launch operations in Hawthorne and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Additionally, SpaceX will continue recovery operations of our reusable Falcon rockets and Dragon spacecraft at the Port of Los Angeles.”

As CBS 4 has reported, SpaceX has been working on a prototype of the Starship hopper at their facility. Our CBS 4 Gulf Coast Eye, Eye in the Sky caught a view of the completed spaceship on Friday.

No word yet on when we might see more action from the facility near Boca Chica Beach. We’ll keep you up-to-date with the very latest.
