Two separate raids at suspected stash houses in Starr County resulted in 39 apprehensions and a 68-pound marijuana seizure.

Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents on Tuesday arrested a suspected human trafficker at a stash house in Roma where they found 24 undocumented immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.

The 24 individuals were offered medical assistance and will be processed accordingly, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

RGC agents and investigators with the Starr County High Intensity Drug Task Area program were conducting a welfare check at the home when the suspected human trafficker attempted to flee the area.

On April 7, both agencies raided a stash house in Escobares, where they found 68 pounds of marijuana, along with 14 immigrants from Guatemala and Mexico.

    Both cases remain under investigation.
