Sullivan City woman arraigned following deadly crash in Weslaco
A Sullivan City woman has been arraigned on charges following a deadly vehicle crash in Weslaco early Thursday morning.
Franshely Ahaida Salinas, 28, of Sullivan City, is charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a motor vehicle.
The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the 600 block of West Interstate 2.
According to the report, when officers arrived, they determined one vehicle was parked on the outside shoulder lane with its lights off. That’s when, according to the report, a second vehicle veered off the outside driving lane and hit the vehicle from behind.
We’re told a passenger who was in the parked vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was ejected out the vehicle. He later died on the scene.
Bond for Salinas has been set at $250,000. The judge also issued additional bond requirements including having an installed GPS mobile device that Salinas must carry at all times when she is out on bond. The judge stated that Weslaco police will be alerted anytime she drinks or drives with that device. We’re told that if she is found drinking, her bond will be revoked.
