According to a statement form United Airlines to CBS 4, "The flight diverted to McAllen International Airport, where local law enforcement officials met the flight upon arrival."

    Update:

CBS 4 has learned new details in the incident where a man behaving violently on a United Airlines aircraft caused the flight to divert to McAllen International Airport.

The flight, which was going from Mexico City to Houston, was diverted after a male passenger physically assaulted another passenger and a member of the flight crew, according to documents obtained by CBS 4.

The documents go on to reveal that Miguel Soto Jr. kicked a female passenger multiple times. Soto also physically struck a flight attendant with his arm as she instructed him to remain in his seat.

Soto was subdued by multiple passengers who held him down as a federal agent aboard the plane intervened. Soto refused to comply with the agent’s commands and continued to resist.

Soto was ultimately able to be restrained until the plane landed in McAllen.

At approximately 6:50 p.m, the aircraft landed at McAllen International Airport where local law enforcement officials met the flight upon arrival.

Soto remains in custody and is expected to appear in federal court on Friday.
