Willacy County game room regulations in limbo
Game rooms in Willacy County have long been an issue for residents and law enforcement.
"I would like to see them eliminated, however, a necessary step might be to start with the regulations; tough enough and strict enough to reduce all the problems they have brought to the area," said Lyford resident Stanley Gonzales.
On Thursday, the temporary halt for issuing commercial building permits was extended by the Willacy County Commission. The reason for the extension is to have all of their ducks in a row, by checking with the D.A. on how to legally move forward.
Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence wants regulations for the game rooms so he can better answer community complaints.
"We've just been asking for something there with a little bit of teeth in it, so we can do the job we need to do," Spence said.
