Proposed federal law would allow states to establish their own marijuana policies
A new bill has been introduced in the House and Senate that would allow states to establish their own marijuana regulatory policies free from federal interference.
Senator Ron Wyden and Representative Earl Blumenauer have introduced Senate Bill 420 - The Marijuana Revenue and Regulation Act / Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act. The bill would remove marijuana from the United States Controlled Substances Act and it also allows state governments to regulate matters concerning marijuana possession, production and sales.
NORML said in an article that an estimated 73 million people in the U.S. now live in 10 states where anyone over the age of 21 can possess cannabis legally.
The public can now send a message to their own lawmakers in support of Senate Bill 420.
