FRIENDSWOOD, Texas (KTRK) - A Texas mom is accused of showing up drunk to a junior-high-school play and assaulting an officer. Police in Friendswood say it got worse when she flooded the local jail.

It happened at Friendswood Junior High. Police say Christy Churchwell was so loud, she disrupted the show.

An officer reported he could smell the alcohol on the mom's breath and she was so intoxicated, she could barely stand.

Police say once the officer took Churchwell outside she became aggressive, balling up her fist and charging at that officer. She was arrested for public intoxication. Police say while being arrested, Churchwell kicked an officer then she was slapped with an assault charge.

But investigators say the shenanigans didn't stop there. Once Churchwell got to jail, they say she set off the sprinkler system in her cell, causing flooding and damages in the jail.

We've heard of a problem child, police say this was one problem parent.

Officials say they found eight small bottles vodka in her purse, only one of them was full.

Churchwell's bond was set to $7,500. No word if she has an attorney.
