State Rep. files bill to resurrect Thanksgiving Aggies-Longhorns football game
AUSTIN, Texas —
State Representative Lyle Larson has filed a bill in the Texas House of Representatives to bring back the annual Thanksgiving football game between the University of Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies.
House Bill 412 would force UT and A&M to play a non-conference, regular season game against one another on the fourth Thursday, Friday or Saturday in November each year.
If either school refuses, they will not be able to award any academic scholarships funded by the state to any student on their respective football teams.
In a tweet, Larson wrote "After another Thanksgiving void of one of the most historic collegiate football rivalries, we filed House Bill 412 to start the negotiating process between Texas A&M and University of Texas to bring back the fabled football game."
