(CBS 4 Sports) - Rio Grande Valley FC added to their roster on Friday and for the first time they looked into their player development academy to do so. The team announced that they have acquired Brandon Morales from their RGV FC Academy. Morales is eligible to play with the Toros during the 2018 season.

Morales was part of their first class of RGV FC Academy and IDEA Toros and spent his junior and senior years of high school with IDEA. Morales served as the academy club captain and participated in several college showcase camps around the country.

“Brandon is a RGV FC Academy player that has been practicing with us for over a month and half and he had been doing very well,” RGV FC Toros head coach Gerson Echeverry said in the team's release. "With the Houston Dynamo and RGV FC philosophy of giving chances to younger players, we wanted to provide him the opportunity to sign and be an option for us to use in games.”

Morales also spent time in the Houston Dynamo Academy at the age of 15. There he played with the club in the Liga MX tournament in Mexico City.

The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros are coming off a 3-nil win over Santos Laguna and will return to USL play on Saturday when the home side plays host to Las Vegas.
