Vipers Win Third Straight: Beat Stars 119-105

Hidalgo, Texas, March 21, 2018 – The NBA G League Rio Grande Valley Vipers, proud affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated the Salt Lake City Stars 119-105.

Julien Lewis led the Rio Grande Valley in scoring tonight with 20 points. Chinanu Onuaku had another double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 points. In his first game back with the Vipers, Darius Morris had nine assists and 16 points, and Salt Lake City’s Diamond Stone led both teams in scoring with 24 points.

The first quarter was tightly fought. SLC Stars’ Taylor Braun got into double-digit scoring in the first quarter with 10 points. The Rio Grande Valley Vipers were able to squeeze away with a two-point lead as the first quarter came to an end.

Julien Lewis was the offensive spark for the Vipers in the second quarter, scoring 10 points in the quarter. Although the lead changed six times during the quarter, the RGV Vipers were able to take their two-point advantage into the second half.

The Vipers held on to their lead throughout the second half, and Darius Morris found his rhythm in the final quarter of the game. His 12 points helped the Vipers distance themselves from the Stars and secure the home win.

With a playoff spot already secured, the Vipers take on Texas Legends on Friday, March 23.
