Connect With Abril Preciado

Abril Preciado was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico and after growing up in one of the rough neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley, it sparked her interest in journalism after witnessing social injustices in her community.

She attended California State University Northridge and became the first in her family to graduate from college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, with a minor in Spanish-language journalism and Chicana/o studies.

While at CSUN Abril participated in the prestigious CBS News Fellowship program in New York city, where she interned at CBS News Radio, where she got the opportunity to cover the 2016 Democratic National Convention. She also worked for Telemundo 52, KSSE-FM, KCSN-FM in Los Angeles.

Following her time in college she reported on deaths along the San Diego-Tijuana border in a semester long investigation. She also covered the 2017 gas hike in Mexico, which took her to the state of Guanajuato to cover the impact it had on local produce vendors, and covered the 2016 presidential election.

Abril left the golden state to join KGBT-TV in August 2017.

She is a bilingual journalist who is passionate about Immigration and social justice stories. She is proud to be serving the people of the RGV. Always seeking the truth, attaining the truth, and revealing the truth.

During her time off Abril loves to travel, explore places in the RGV, meeting people in the community, reading, trying out new places to eat, and if you're lucky you may catch her singing along to her favorite artists.
