Born and raised in West Texas, near oil rigs and high winds, Ronnie has come to the Rio Grande Valley to deliver the news of the Valley.

Ronnie came to KGBT in March of 2018 from KWES-TV, NBC affiliate in Midland-Odessa, Texas, where he was the Internet Content Director/Digital Content Manager for 11 years for NewsWest9.com. Ronnie started his television career working cameras, prompter, Master Control Operator and was later promoted to Digital Content Manager. While also at KWES-TV, Ronnie learned a lot about how stations tick, function and operate. Whether it was working digital, going in the field operating a live truck, helping the weather team track severe weather, Ronnie is all about the news.

While working in Midland, Ronnie also found time to complete both his Associates Degree in Communications at Midland College and Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Communications.

Ronnie has received multiple awards from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for best website, best digital, best photojournalism-station and best online-special content.

In his spare time, you’ll find Ronnie on the volleyball court officiating high school volleyball or cheering on the Dallas Stars and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Ronnie is proud to call the Rio Grande Valley his new home and looks forward to bringing “Complete Valley Coverage” online and on social media.
